Bottle feeding at night, breastfeeding during the day

My LO has been getting was too sleepy breastfeeding at night. The feeding was taking an hour or more and I had to fight to keep him awake. My friend had suggested trying pumping/bottles at night and BF during the day. I tried it last night for the first time and he did amazing. He fed quickly (30ish minutes) and went right back to bed.

For anyone that does this, can you tell me how it works logistically? Do you get all the bottles ready before bed? Last night I would feed him the following time with what I pumped from the session before, but I just found it to be a lot of trips down to the kitchen in the middle of the night.

Last night I fed him a bottle, changed, burped, and put to bed. Then I pumped. Went downstairs to wash pump parts and grab a new empty bottle for the next feeding. Filled it with the breast milk I just pumped and have it waiting for the next feeding.

you can put your parts in a Ziploc bag and put it in the fridge so you don't have to wash them. I do the same, I only pump and whatever I pump I use for the next feeding. just remember your milk is good for 4 hours at room temperature which helps if he's awake before then. you can also get a small cooler and put good ice packs in there to put your parts and milk in there as well.

I do the same but sometimes i like to pump after each bf session during the day. You can get about .5-1 oz each time which can add up to 5-6 oz depending on how much bf your doing in the day. Store it in the fridge. Once it's chilled you can add them to each other. Than prepare bottles for the night…although if you are trying to maintain or increase your milk supply you still might need to pump once or twice in the night…

I have the exact same problem, my 1st was like this and now my son does this too, especially with thr gasping and coming out the nose, it's awful! the only real solution I have is keeping him upright for atleast 30 minutes and make sure he's as upright as possible during feeding

Do you formula feed at all? If yes I highly recommend buying a Baby Brezza.

If not, here's what I do. I portion breast milk and put them all in bottles and in a lunch bag filled w ice (ice packs would be even better). I bring bag to nursey w bottle warmer. Since I know baby feeds every 2hrs and milk is good 4hrs room temp, I feed, put him to bed, and immediately warm the next bottle so I don't have to wait 3m for the bottle to warm up while babe bloody screams for milk.

As far as pumping goes, I used to have a Medela so I pump after babe's down for bed. Now that I have a Willow that allows me to pump laying down, I pump and sleep (yep, at the same time) when babe sleeps, and bottle milk right before babe wakes up for next feeding.
